*** These will be supplied by different class periods so that it can be part of our class community box. ***
Responsibility
It is very important that the student use his/her time wisely in class since the practice of the target language is vital in their success. In addition, it is very important to have all necessary materials in class daily and to ask any questions in order to help with the understanding of the rules and or practices. The textbook will be used as a resource and can be left at home so that it is easily accessible to the student.

Tests / Major Projects / Quizzes 50 %
Absences / Make-Up Work: Upon returning from an absence OR before returning, obtain assignments by checking my web page (http://glowe1713.weebly.com ) and printing out any necessary worksheets. Also, there will be a folder available in class with the necessary worksheets missed –JUST IN CASE- you can’t print at home. You will also check with your absent buddy but IF you are unclear about assignment, please see me for instructions before/after school or during lunch. Remember that you are responsible for any quiz/ test/essay/ project announced prior to your absence upon your return. You will have one day per absence day to complete your work. MAKE-UP WORK IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY. PLEASE ASK FOR ASSISTANCE IF YOU ARE UNCLEAR ABOUT EXPECTATIONS.
Late Work
A. Late work is defined as any assignment that is not submitted on the due date and class period with the exception of make-up work for absences or approved school activities.
B. 20% deduction from the total grade from the total grade earned will be taken for late assignments.
C. Late assignments will be accepted until summative assessment or within a three-week grading period.
D. Extenuating circumstances may occur that prevent the completion and turning in of assignments on the due date but it is the parent/guardian and/or student’s responsibility to inform the teacher. When this occurs an exception to the rule may or may not be granted. The teacher and/or appropriate administrator shall have the authority to render a final decision on the granting of any exceptions.
Tutoring
I will be available for tutoring before school on Tuesdays from 8:00-8:30 and after school from 4:05-4:45. You will have to make an appointment if you would like to meet after school any other day. Please sign clipboard in class to let me know. My school email is [email protected]
Plagiarism
Any work that you did not complete and that is turned in as your own (without proper documentation) will be considered cheating and will receive a grade of zero. Please be careful that you are not unintentionally (or intentionally) stealing someone else’s thoughts, words, ideas, etc. This refers also when using Google to translate assignments. Use google ONLY as one would use a dictionary to find the meaning of a word. The dictionary DOES NOT give full phrases or different tenses like google translate so please refrain from using any forms of internet translations. Come in for tutoring instead and you can see how simple it can be if you just use what you have already.
Please update email information on Parent Portal so that you can receive all emails sent regarding tests, major projects, missing assignments…

No electronic devices are allowed outside of your purse and/or backpack. Please do not make this an issue. No food or drink except for water.
Course Overview
The curriculum will again focus on the 5 C’s: Communication, Culture, Connections, Comparisons, and Communities. These foreign language standards will be met through a variety of speaking, reading, listening, and cultural activities. There will be time in class provided for the student to become familiar with the internet resources before a homework assignment is due. These assignments are vital in order to fulfill requirements for classroom discussions. We will begin all assignments in class and IF time is used wisely, the amount of homework should be MINIMAL. These internet resources are found on my web page under the category “links.” I am here to help you with any questions you may have so please let me know ASAP if you ever feel confused about any concept, assignment…
Sincerely,
Señora Lowe
